Data Engineer at TAPP

René Luijk has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and engineering. René is currently working as a Data Engineer at TAPP since February 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Scientist at DPG Media from August 2018 to January 2021, where they gained valuable experience in data analysis and interpretation. René also worked as a Data Scientist at Quantillion, powered by DPA, from May 2017 to July 2018. René started their career in the research field as a PhD Student at Leiden University Medical Center from August 2012 to April 2017, where they conducted research in their area of expertise. Before that, they had an internship at the same medical center from March 2011 to April 2012. Additionally, they worked as a Student Assistant from September 2011 to September 2011, where they led workgroups and computer practicals for Bachelor's and Master's students in the biomedical sciences, focusing on teaching them statistical methods. René Luijk has demonstrated their expertise and adaptability through their varied work experience.

René Luijk's education history begins in 2005, when they attended the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where they obtained a Foundation year (propedeuse) in International Degree in English and Education. From 2006 to 2009, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology at Leiden University. This was followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Statistics, which they completed from 2009 to 2012 at the same institution. Afterward, from 2012 to 2019, René Luijk attended Leiden University once again to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD, cum laude) in Bioinformatics.

In addition to their formal education, René Luijk has obtained several certifications. In 2020, they completed various courses and specializations on Coursera, including "Building Web Applications in Django," "Functional Programming in Scala Capstone," "Functional Programming in Scala Specialization," "Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark," "Parallel programming," "Functional Program Design in Scala," and "Functional Programming Principles in Scala."
