CTO & Co-Founder at Tarana Wireless

Dale Branlund is one of Tarana’s co-founders and is the Chief Architect of Tarana’s 2nd and 3rd generation wireless broadband systems. Dale has more than 40 years of deep experience in wireless system innovation, development, executive management, and startup growth in advanced radio systems. Prior to Tarana, he co-founded and held senior technical executive roles in BRN Phoenix (broadband wireless access systems based on adaptive array processing technology), BeamReach Networks, and Radix Technologies (defense contractor specializing in signal reconnaissance and digital signal processing). Dale was co-inventor of the first wireless system to use OFDMA and adaptive beamforming technology first used in ATT Project Angel. These technologies now form the basis of WiMax and LTE. With the introduction of Tarana’s G1 fixed BWA system representing 25 years of continuous innovation embodied in 4 generations of wireless base stations and CPE, performance levels eclipsing 3GPP systems is being obtained. Earlier in his career, Dale was Chief Engineer at ArgoSystems, a defense electronics developer acquired by Boeing. Dale has numerous patents both issued and pending for mobile and fixed broadband systems using adaptive array technologies. Dale holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University.
