Sandra Lavender has extensive experience in administrative support within higher education and nonprofit organizations. Currently serving as a Human Resources Specialist at Tarrant County College since May 2012, Sandra provides administrative support to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and the HR staff. Previously, Sandra held multiple roles at Austin Community College from 2003 to 2012, including Senior Administrative Assistant for the Executive Director of School Relations and the Executive Director of Capital Area College Tech Prep, as well as Administrative Assistant III in the Health Sciences Department. Additional experience includes serving as an Administrative Aide for the Texas Association of Family, Career & Community Leaders of America, and as an Administrative Assistant at the Texas Pork Producers Association. Sandra holds multiple Associate of Applied Science degrees in Office Administration from Austin Community College and completed a certificate in Office Administration at McLennan Community College.

More and more students of Tarrant County are earning two-year degrees and technical certificates at five schools of the Tarrant County College District in Fort Worth, Texas, one of the state's most rapidly growing institutions of higher learning. The five Texas campuses that make up the TCCD are located in: * Hurst * Fort Worth * Arlington The schools within the district offer academics in more than 80 areas of study, with associate's degrees in arts, science, teaching and applied science. Whether you know exactly where you plan on taking your career or you still need some exploring to do, the school is sure to have a program for you. Some areas of study include: * Drama and Theatre * Emergency Medical Services * Construction Management * Health Information Technology * Railroad Dispatcher The schools encourage all students to get involved with college life to enhance their educational experience. From field trips to leadership events to regional student competitions, there is plenty to do on campus. You can also make lifelong friends in a professional, recreational or leadership group. Some organizations you can join include the Chess Club, Organization for Human Awareness and Socratic Club. As long as you have graduated high school or earned a GED, you will be considered for admissions within the TCCD. Students from Tarrant County and other districts throughout Texas qualify for discounted tuition costs. All students may apply for TCCD financial aid by filing a FAFSA.
