Jean-Philippe (JP) Aumasson

Jean-Philippe (JP) Aumasson has a long and varied work experience. In 2006, they began a doctoral researcher role at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, where they researched within the SNFS-funded project "Lightweight cryptography for secure ad hoc communications". During this role, they invented cryptanalysis techniques and broke a few ciphers, as well as designed the SHA-3 candidate BLAKE, which lead to the widely used BLAKE2 and BLAKE3 hash algorithms. In 2009, JP began a role as a Security Architect and Cryptography Engineer at NAGRA - Kudelski Group. Jean-Philippe (JP) then moved to Kudelski Security in 2013, where they held the roles of VP Technology, Principal Research Engineer, and Principal Cryptographer. In 2014, they Co-Founded DAHU Events. In 2018, they Co-Founded Sockpuppet Technologies, Inc., providing cryptography trainings jointly with Philipp Jovanovic, and also began roles as Chief Security Officer, Co-Founder at Taurus SA, and Chair of the Technical Committee at Capital Markets and Technology Association. In 2021, JP began roles as Advisor at Inference and FYRFLY Venture Partners. Jean-Philippe (JP) also began a role as CEO, Co-Founder at Teserakt AG in 2018.

Jean-Philippe (JP) Aumasson received their PhD in Computer Science from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) between 2006 and 2009. Prior to this, they obtained their Research Master (MPRI) in Computer Science from Université Paris Cité in 2005-2006. Jean-Philippe (JP) also earned a Master in Computer Science from CY Cergy Paris Université between 2001 and 2005.
