Patrick Dean Smith

Patrick Dean Smith, DMD, MPH, serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Prevention and Public Health Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry since June 2014. In this capacity, Patrick focuses on academic support and curriculum development for dental students engaged in community-based service-learning. Additionally, as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Patrick enhances the clinical knowledge of third and fourth-year dental students through the Extramural Education Program. As a Dentist and Mobile Dentistry Program Consultant at TCA Health Inc. and former Dentist/Attending Faculty at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Patrick has worked to provide dental care to high-risk, low-income communities. Patrick also possesses teaching experience as part-time faculty at DePaul University and previously co-owned SMITH & SMITH SMILE STUDIO, P.C., providing general dental care. Patrick holds a DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science from Morehouse College.
