Jim Plunkett is a former NFL player, with sixteen seasons as a quarterback. Plunkett led the Oakland Raiders to two Super Bowl victories. Plunkett was selected by the New England Patriots as the first overall pick in the 1971 NFL Draft and also played for the San Francisco 49ers. Plunkett was named MVP at Super Bowl XV. He is a Heisman Trophy winner, playing for Stanford University. Plunkett received the Maxwell Award for the nation’s best player and was named player of the year by United Press International, The Sporting News, and SPORT magazine.
