Phil Weinberg

Phil Weinberg serves as the Senior Advisor and Managing Director of the Writing Pathway Innovation Lab at Teaching Lab since June 2022. Prior to this role, Phil held the position of Senior Partner at Quill.org, where efforts focused on creating a research-backed framework for enhancing writing instruction. Phil's experience as Chief Executive Officer at The Writing Revolution and Deputy Chief Academic Officer at the NYC Department of Education contributed to a robust understanding of educational leadership and curriculum development. With a rich background that includes positions as Principal, Assistant Principal, and English Teacher, Phil is equipped with extensive expertise in teacher development and school accountability. Phil's educational credentials include a Master's degree in Teaching English from Teachers College, Columbia University, a Bachelor's degree in English from Swarthmore College, and a 6th year certificate in School District Leadership from Hunter College.
