Abby Smith

Abby Smith is the President & CEO of Team Pennsylvania Foundation. Abby has over a decade of experience in policy and administration in the education sector.

Abby started their career as a Policy Specialist/Special Assistant at the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In this role, they were the lead writer for Pennsylvania’s Phase 2 Race to the Top grant application. Abby also researched and wrote policy memos and recommendations regarding alternative certification, teacher certification testing, and educator preparation and quality.

In 2010, they were nominated for the Governor’s Award for Excellence and received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their work on Race to the Top.

Abby left the Pennsylvania Department of Education in 2011 to start their own consulting firm, ASEP Consulting. As the Founder/Principal of ASEP Consulting, they provided policy analysis and strategic planning services to educational organizations and state agencies.

In 2021, they became the President & CEO of Team Pennsylvania Foundation, a non-profit that works to attract businesses to Pennsylvania and help them thrive.
