Director, Brand Marketing And Communication at Tecan

Siân Curtis has over 28 years of work experience in various roles and companies. Currently, they serve as the Director of Brand Marketing and Communication at Tecan since December 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Internal Communications at Tecan from August 2020 to December 2023. Before joining Tecan, Siân worked at EFG Bank as a Content and Internal Communications professional from October 2019 to August 2020. Siân also held the position of Director of Communications, Integrity and Compliance at Novartis from March 2017 to June 2019. Siân has a significant tenure at ABB where they served in multiple roles, including Head of Group Internal Communications from April 2015 to March 2017, Communications Manager for the Network Management business unit from August 2010 to April 2015, Writer and Editor in the Group Corporate Communications from December 2006 to July 2010, and Head of Communications (ad interim) for the Power Products and Power Systems division from February 2008 to August 2008. Prior to their time at ABB, they worked at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as a Developmental Editor/Senior Developmental Editor from 1996 to 2006, and as a Project Manager (consultant) from June 1997 to December 1997. Siân started their career as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at CSIRO from 1993 to 1996 and as a Higher Scientific Officer at John Innes Centre from 1992 to 1993.

Siân Curtis holds a variety of academic qualifications. In 1988, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc, Hons) degree at the University of East Anglia. Siân further pursued their education in molecular biology, undertaking a "Stage: maîtrise" at Université Grenoble Alpes in 1986-1987. Later on, they obtained a PhD in Virology at the University of East Anglia on a Gatsby/Sainsbury studentship from 1989 to 1992. In terms of professional development, Siân completed a Certificate in Marketing Communications from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, an Internal Communications Leadership program from Cranfield School of Management, and a Certificate in Drug Discovery, Drug Development, and Drug Commercialization from UC San Diego. Finally, in 2022, they earned a Certificate in Communicating for Influence and Impact from the University of Cambridge.
