Muthuri Kathure is a seasoned policy advocate specializing in platform governance and internet policy. Currently serving as a Senior Policy Fellow at Tech Global Institute since January 2025, Muthuri leads public policy interventions in Africa and represents the institute in various national and regional engagements. Previously, Muthuri held the position of Policy and Advocacy Lead for East and Southern Africa at Mozilla, focusing on promoting trustworthy AI and an open internet. Muthuri's experience also includes a tenure as Senior Programme Officer at ARTICLE 19, where engagement with human rights mechanisms and advocacy for civic and digital rights was emphasized. As Program Manager at Justice Defenders, Muthuri established a legal aid program in Kenya and supported its implementation in Uganda. Earlier roles, including a law consultant for the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, underscore Muthuri's commitment to human rights and legal aid. Muthuri holds a Bachelor of Laws from Mount Kenya University and a Master of Arts in Project Management from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
