Skip Newberry began their work experience in 2004 as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Ellen Ash Peters at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2005, they co-founded and served as the CEO of LawyerPrep, a professional development company. Skip co-founded and advised SiBOOM Software in 2007. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as an Economic Development Policy Advisor at the Office of Mayor Sam Adams in the City of Portland. In 2011, Newberry became the President & CEO of the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO), where they focused on promoting and developing the technology and tech-enabled industries in Oregon and SW Washington. Starting in 2013, they held multiple roles at the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA), including Board Member, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. These roles continued until 2020.

Skip Newberry received their Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where they studied from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they pursued their undergraduate education at Colby College from 1996 to 2000, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in International Relations, Government, and Economics. Skip completed their secondary education at Rockville High School. Additional certifications include being a member of the New York State Bar and the Oregon State Bar.
