Tim Whitwell

Vice President Engineering at Tectonic Audio Labs

Tim Whitwell has 18 years of experience in the Consumer Electronics industry. Tim began their career in 1997 as a Senior Research Engineer at NXT plc, where they conducted research into the fundamental behavior of Distributed Mode Loudspeakers and invented a novel headphone technology. In 2006, they became Head of Acoustics at NXT, where they were responsible for audio and haptic transducer design, from initial concept simulation to mass production. In 2010, they joined HiWave Technologies plc as Lead Technologist, where they were responsible for the design of all audio and haptic transducers through to mass production in S. China. In 2011, they founded Tim Whitwell Acoustic Design & Development Limited, providing scientific and electro-acoustic engineering consultancy to a broad range of companies. Their acoustic system and transducer designs have sold in the 100s of millions and won many prestigious awards. In 2016, they became Vice President Engineering at Tectonic Audio Labs.

Tim Whitwell attended The University of Manchester from 1993 to 1997, where they earned a Master of Physics (MPhys) degree in Physics.
