Yannis Vasilakis currently serves as the Executive Assistant to Human Rights Commissioners at Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission since 2023. Previous experience includes the role of Executive Assistant to the Dean and Deputy Dean of Law at The University of Auckland (2022-2023) and Executive Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor and Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at Auckland University of Technology (2021-2022). In 2005, Yannis was the Head of Administration of the Postgraduate Programme in Shipping at the University of Piraeus and worked as a Retail Salesperson at Lakis Gavalas SA. Yannis holds a Master of Science in Shipping from the University of Piraeus and a degree in International and European Economic and Political Studies from the University of Macedonia, with additional education from the University of Miskolc.

Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand's National Human Rights Institution. We were set up in 1977 and work under the Human Rights Act as an independent Crown entity funded by the government.
