Zak Metz

Zak Metz is a Senior Consultant at Teknion Data Solutions. Zak has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and development, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.

Zak began their career in 1999 as a Principal Software Engineer at Syncsort. There, they worked on a variety of postal-related software development projects throughout the SDLC. In 2007, they became the Agile Coach and led the adoption of scrum and agile practices during a corporate transformation. Zak was the first-ever recipient of the company’s agile coaching award.

In 2016, Zak left Syncsort to join GET Marketing as a Full Stack Web Developer. There, they worked directly with the CEO to build an AWS data insight platform for visualization and data mining of AAFES sales and inventory data for 1,000+ military Exchange stores worldwide. The platform was built using PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, and the Google charting API front end, with a RESTful service back-end in Java and SQL on Amazon Aurora RDS. Zak also designed the data warehouse using Kimball star schema.

Zak has been with Teknion Data Solutions since 2020, where they continue to consult on cloud-based solutions and data architecture.

Zak Metz has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biblical Studies from Criswell College and a certification from the Scrum Alliance as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). Zak also has a certification from OMG as an OMG Certified UML Professional (OCUP). Additionally, they have two certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS), one as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and the other as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
