Shabi Shmalo has extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Shabi started their professional career in the Israeli Air Force, where they held different positions ranging from Major to Lieutenant Colonel. Shabi served as Head of allocation and classification unit, Head of Education and Public Relations, Commander of administrative squadron, and Head of staff branch. In 2013, they joined Tel-Aviv Medical Research and Development Fund as Vice President of Human Resources, and later in 2015, they became the Chief People Officer at Tel Aviv Medical center.
Shabi Shmalo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 1997. Later, in 2011, they completed a Master of Arts in Social Sciences and National Security from the University of Haifa.

Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) is the second largest and one of the most progressive full-service healthcare treatment and research institutions in Israel. Medical Center physicians integrate their clinical care with research on a daily basis. Each year, hundreds of research studies, both basic science and clinical, are conducted within the Medical Center’s walls, in search of new medical understanding and to develop new diagnostic and treatment modalities. The Medical Center leads the country in the number of research projects conducted. In 2010, the Medical Center was the top facility in research funding.
