Cdfp Mike Chiwaya

Mike Chiwaya is an experienced professional with a diverse background in business development, sales, distribution, and banking. Mike began their career at MALAWI RURAL FINANCE COMPANY as an Accounts Assistant, where they gained experience in various financial tasks such as cash handling, payroll management, and reconciliation. Mike later joined Opportunity International Bank of Malawi, where they took on roles such as Cashback Officer, Marketing Officer, Automated Channels Officer, Agent Relationship Supervisor, and Acting Automated Channels Manager. In these positions, they focused on establishing and implementing alternative distribution channels, developing market-oriented cultures, and managing agent networks. Chiwaya then joined Airtel Malawi Limited as an Airtel Money Area Manager before transitioning to the role of Territory Sales Manager, responsible for managing retail sales and distribution activities. Mike also served as the Acting Zonal Business Manager, driving sales metrics and managing high denomination recharges and products like Airtel Money. Currently, Chiwaya is working as a Regional Distribution Manager and Business Development Manager at Telekom Networks Malawi Limited.

Mike Chiwaya, CDFP completed a Certified Digital Financial Practitioner program at the Digital Frontiers Institute from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Exploits University, completing the program from 2013 to 2015. In 2004 to 2006, they attended K and M School of Accountancy, and in 2003 to 2004, they attended Nkhoma Synod Computer College. Mike Chiwaya also obtained additional certifications from the Digital Frontiers Institute, including a Certificate in Digital Money in December 2018, Leading Digital Money Markets in August 2019, Digital Humanitarian Payments in October 2019, Money Transfers in November 2019, and Digitizing Agriculture in December 2019. Mike most recently obtained the certification of CERTIFIED DIGITAL FINANCE PRACTITIONER from the Digital Frontiers Institute in October 2022.
