Kimmo Lassila's work experience includes several roles in engineering, quality management, and component management. Kimmo started working at Nokia in 1992 as a Component Engineer, responsible for approving semiconductor components and maintaining component databases. Kimmo also coordinated component selections with sourcing. Kimmo continued working at Nokia and became a Quality and Technology Manager in 2004, where they were globally responsible for supplier quality and set and followed up on supplier quality targets. In 2014, they joined Microsoft as a Technology Quality Manager, responsible for sensor components hardware reliability in mobile phones. Kimmo worked in collaboration with product development programs, technology teams, and sensor suppliers. In 2016, they joined Tepcomp Oy for a short-term project, and then moved on to Valmet Automotive, where they worked as a Senior Product Quality Engineer until 2022. Currently, they are employed as an Engineer in Component Management at Teleste.
Kimmo Lassila completed their education at various institutions. Kimmo attended Puolalanmäki High School from 1985 to 1988, where they obtained their High School diploma. Kimmo then enrolled at Turku Technical College from 1988 to 1991, where they earned an Engineer's Degree in Information Technology. Later, from 2015 to 2020, Kimmo attended Turku University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Information and Communication Technology.
In addition to their formal education, Kimmo Lassila has also obtained several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Kimmo received the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate in Project Management from APMG-International in January 2016. Furthermore, they obtained a Six Sigma yellow belt from MoreSteam University in September 2014. Kimmo also completed Assessment Training for Lead Auditors from Bureau Veritas in November 2004. More recently, they acquired the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Quality Knowhow Karjalainen Oy in July 2021, and the Product Safety & Conformity Representative certification from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in October 2021.
