Sourcing Category Manager, Mechanics at Teleste

Tapio Poutanen has extensive experience in the field of connectors and mechanics sourcing. Tapio started their career in 1990 as an Injection Molding Designer and Tooling Designer at Laukamo Yhtiöt. In 1997, they joined Nokia Display Products as a Senior Design Engineer and Tooling Specialist. There, they served as the Mechanics Chief Engineer for monitor projects and was responsible for tooling acceptance and trials at suppliers in Italy.

Moving forward, Poutanen worked at Nokia for several years in various roles related to connectors. Tapio initially served as a Senior Design Engineer Mechanics, and later became a Specialist in Mechanics with responsibility for BtoB, Flex, and MCX connectors for new phone projects. Tapio then became a Project Manager for various connector types, including memory cards, SIM connectors, MCX connectors, RF-Switch and probes, and RF-Antenna Connectors. Poutanen also held the position of Physical Connectivity Expert, where they oversaw connector projects and was responsible for size, form factors, and mechanics in Symbian Devices.

In 2014, Poutanen joined Microsoft as a Senior Specialist for Connectors. Tapio took charge of Microsoft Connectors at Microsoft sites phone programs, handling the open order book, scheduling, audits, and collaboration with suppliers. After a year at Microsoft, they joined NEVS in 2017 as a Lead Engineer for Connectors. In this role, they developed the strategy for a connector palette to support electrical connections in existing and future projects, led the development of the connector system, and wrote technical requirements.

Poutanen's most recent position is at Teleste, where they started in 2018 as a Sourcing Category Manager for Mechanics. Tapio has global responsibility for mechanics sourcing and purchases, focusing on Mechanical parts and tools. Tapio also leads the sourcing category for all mechanical components.

Tapio Poutanen completed their education in the field of mechanical engineering. From 1987 to 1989, they studied at the Technical Institute of Forssa and obtained a technician degree in mechanical engineering. Following this, from 1991 to 1994, they pursued further education at the same institution and acquired a degree in mechanical engineering.
