Director Of Risk Management at Telluride Ski & Golf

Matthew Thomas has extensive experience in risk management and operations in the ski and outdoor recreation industry. Matthew most recently served as the Director of Risk Management at Telluride Ski & Golf. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President General Manager at Roundtop Mountain Resort, where they managed various departments and implemented successful revenue-generating events. Matthew has also worked as the Director of Risk Management at Camelback Resort and Risk Manager at Alyeska Resort & The Hotel Alyeska, where they established risk management departments and implemented safety initiatives. Additionally, they have experience in activities planning and residence life management as an Assistant Director at Holy Family University. Matthew's earlier work includes roles in lift operations management at Mount Snow and Intrawest.

Matthew Thomas obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Management from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where they attended from 1998 to 2002. Matthew then pursued further education and completed a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Holy Family University from 2008 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew has obtained several certifications. In 2001, they became a certified Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) through the PA Department of Health. In 2007, they obtained certification as a Fire Fighter 1 through NFPA.

In recent years, Matthew has obtained various certifications related to safety and instruction. Matthew became a certified Life Guard in May 2016 through Ellis and Associates, Inc. In January 2014, they became an American Red Cross First Aid CPR and AED Instructor through the American Red Cross in Alaska. In August 2013, they obtained OSHA 30 Hour For General Industry certification. In the same year, they also obtained DOT Drug Test Collection certification, TAP Instructor certification through Alaska CHARR, and AK-CESCL certification.
