Dean Salter

Group Executive, Global Business Services at Telstra

As Group Executive, Global Business Services (GBS), Dean brings together Telstra’s shared services such as Assurance, Activation, Billing, Property, Procurement and People Services to improve customer service, efficiency and service levels across the company.

Dean joined Telstra from Jetstar where he was Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all aspects of the operation across both domestic and international fleets. During his five years at Jetstar, Dean focused on raising the bar on personal and operational safety, improving operational reliability and delivering an improved customer and employee experience through digitisation, process re-engineering, new product development and major organisational restructuring.

Before entering the aviation industry, Dean spent more than 20 years in leadership positions at BP, with assignments in London, Edinburgh and Cape Town. He has both deep functional and operational experience in senior leadership positions, as well as extensive expertise in managing hazardous operations, supply and logistics, strategy, sales and retail, industrial relations and customer service. Dean has completed business studies at Monash University in Melbourne and Cambridge University in the UK along with an Advanced Operations Program at MIT, Boston and a Leadership module at Harvard University.

Dean has also held positions on a number of boards including BP Australia Pty Ltd and the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores.
