John Matthews has extensive experience in the field of education and athletics, currently serving as a Teacher and Assistant Coach for both Football and Wrestling at Temple ISD since August 2020. Prior to this role, John held the position of Interim Athletic Director and Defensive Coordinator at CLEVELAND ISD from August 2019 to July 2020. Additional experience includes serving as a Special Education Teacher and Defensive Ends Coach at Coldspring Oakhurst High School, and as a Teacher and Associate Head Coach at Kermit ISD. John began coaching as a Volunteer Coach at Fayetteville School District and gained further experience as Football Defense and Recruiting Student Assistant at the University of Arkansas. John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Arkansas.
