Amara Greer-Short

Associate Director at Tenaya Therapeutics

Amara Greer-Short began their career as a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) at Washington State University in 2008. Amara then became an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the same institution from 2009 to 2011.

In 2012, they joined Virginia Tech as a Research Graduate Assistant and Ph.D. Candidate. During their time there, they conducted day-long optical mapping experiments on guinea pigs and mice, formulated hypotheses, planned experiments, and conducted statistical analysis to determine the validity of null hypotheses. Amara'srole lasted until April 2016.

From April 2016 to September 2019, Amara worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Ohio State University in the Bob and Corinne Frick Center for Heart Failure and Arrhythmias. Amara functioned independently in designing, organizing, and conducting highly specialized and advanced experiments. Moreover, they summarized their findings and published results in research journals. Additionally, they oversaw the scientific operations of the laboratory and provided supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers.

Since September 2019, Amara has been with Tenaya Therapeutics, first as a Scientist I until February 2021, then as a Scientist II until February 2023, and currently as a Senior Scientist I. Further details about their roles and responsibilities in these positions were not provided.

Amara Greer-Short completed their education with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Washington State University, which they attended from 2007 to 2011.
