Uma Lakshmanan

Uma Lakshmanan has a diverse range of work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2023, they joined Tenaya Therapeutics as a Senior Research Associate II. Prior to that, from 2021 to 2022, they worked at Synthego Corporation as an Associate Scientist, where they focused on incorporating Next Gen Sequencing in CRISPR gene therapy and analyzing the safety aspects of gene editing. From 2017 to 2021, Uma worked at Stanford University School of Medicine as a Life science Research Professional II, where they validated the use of CRISPR/Cas9 for treating autoimmune diseases. Before that, from 2012 to 2017, they held roles as a Research Associate at Gladstone Institutes, specializing in stem cell research and CRISPR gene editing. In 2012, they also worked as a Research Intern at the University of Southern California, gaining experience in pluripotent stem cell culture techniques. Uma started their career in 2006 as an HR Consultant at Laurent & Benon Group, where they focused on understanding clients' requirements and implementing employee incentive programs. Uma also has experience as a student at Pasadena City College and an intern at the California Institute of Technology.

Uma Lakshmanan has an education history spanning from high school to postgraduate studies. Uma completed their high school education at National Public School, where they focused on science. After high school, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology at Bangalore University from 2000 to 2003. Following their Bachelor's degree, Uma went on to earn a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Bangalore University between 2004 and 2006.

Continuing their education, Uma obtained a Certificate in Stem Cell Research from Pasadena City College in the field of Biotechnology from 2009 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, Uma has obtained several certifications. These include the Blood Borne Pathogen certification and HIPAA Professional certification, both from Stanford University School of Medicine in 2017. Uma also obtained a Stem Cell Research certification from USC University Hospital in 2012.

Recently, in December 2020, Uma earned the Group 7: IRB BioMed/GCP Research certification from the CITI Program, A Division of BRANY.
