Julián Mesri is an accomplished playwright, educator, and artistic director with extensive experience in theatre and performance. Currently serving as a member of the Emerging Writers Group at The Public Theater since August 2020, Julián also holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Performing Arts at Pace University, focusing on Spanish and Latin American theatre. An educator at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and a music teacher at School of Rock, Julián has also contributed as a Visiting Professor at Western Michigan University. Previous roles include Artistic Director at Sans Comedia, where Julián was involved in writing, directing, composing, and producing, as well as directing productions at Repertorio Español. Julián's work has been recognized through fellowships, including the Emerging Artist of Color Fellowship at New York Theatre Workshop, and involvement in translating plays for significant cultural exchanges. Julián holds an MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University and a BA in Philosophy from Williams College.
