Brian Lapps currently serves as General Counsel for the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) since July 2020. Prior to this role, Brian worked as Division Counsel at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from August 2018 to July 2020, focusing on labor and employment, Title IX, and other student-related issues. Brian's legal career includes serving as Deputy General Counsel at the University of Tennessee from February 2009 to August 2018 and as an attorney at Waller Lansden Dortch and Davis from August 1993 to January 2009. Brian holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, earned between 1990 and 1993, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from the University of Notre Dame, completed from 1986 to 1990.
