Kristen Strain

Kristen Strain currently serves as General Counsel for Goodwill of Greater Washington since September 2025. Prior to this role, Kristen held positions as Co General Counsel and Associate General Counsel at HIAS from February 2021 to September 2025. Kristen was the Executive Director of the Tahirih Justice Center from November 2016 to February 2021, where responsibilities included leading the Baltimore office, representing clients in immigration matters, and developing policies for client services. Earlier in career, Kristen worked as an Attorney at Venable LLP from February 2003 to January 2016, focusing on pharmaceutical product litigation and coordinating national defense strategies for mass tort cases. Kristen's legal journey began as an Associate Attorney at Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti & Sherbrook, P.C. from September 2001 to January 2003, representing healthcare providers in malpractice cases. Kristen's foundational experience includes serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer from 1996 to 1998, coordinating literacy programs in Oregon. Kristen holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from The College of Wooster.
