Leon Scioscia has a wealth of experience in the arts and cultural sector. Leon currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, a role they started in 2023. Prior to this, they served as President/CEO of the Workhouse Arts Foundation Inc. from 2021 to 2023. From 2015 to 2021, Scioscia was the Executive Vice President of Operations at the Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc. Leon also served as the Director of Operations and Special Projects at the Trust for the National Mall from 2012 to 2015. Before that, they were the Principal at Scioscia & Associates, where they provided consulting services from 2010 to 2012. From 2006 to 2010, Scioscia worked as a Special Assistant to the Law Librarian of Congress at the Library of Congress. Leon started their career at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where they held various roles from 1994 to 2006, including Special Assistant to the President. Scioscia's earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Executive Director at the Herberger Theater Center and working as a Special Assistant to the Administrative Director at Arena Stage.
Leon Scioscia has a diverse education history. In 1972, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English and Theatre from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Leon then pursued a Master's Degree in Dramatic Arts at the University of Iowa from 1977 to 1979. In 1996, Leon Scioscia earned a certificate in Delivering Information Services from Harvard Business School. In 2006, they obtained a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) License from The George Washington University Law School, specializing in Purchasing, Procurement/Acquisitions, and Contracts Management. In 2018 and 2019, they completed a program called Leadership Maryland. Leon also attended a Racial Equity Workshop at the Racial Equity Institute in 2020.
