Dan Shelly has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Dan started their career at Microsoft in 1990, working in program management until 1998. From 1995 to 2001, they served on the Technical Board of Directors at Sagent Technology. In 1998, Dan started their own consultancy, Dan Shelly Data Design, where they worked as a Principal Consultant until 2001. Dan then became the Executive Director at Broadwings Foundation from 2007 to 2008. After that, they served as the Executive Director at New Horizons Ministries from 2009 to 2010, where they focused on assisting homeless and street-involved young people. In 2010, Dan took some time off to enjoy with their family and fulfill household responsibilities. Dan returned to work in 2011 and founded Shelly Data Doodles, a software company focused on creating iOS apps. Dan continued to lead and develop new apps until 2015 when they joined Terawe Corporation as a Software Engineer and Senior Data Consultant. In 2014, Dan was also a co-founder of a startup focused on developing family-safe home computing products and evaluating new technologies impacting daily life.

Dan Shelly attended San Francisco State University from 1987 to 1989, where they obtained a BSCS degree with a focus on Database. Following this, from 2002 to 2006, they pursued further education at Seattle University, earning an MDIV degree. No specific field of study is provided for the MDIV degree.
