Jim Tomkins

Jim Tomkins, P.E. is a seasoned civil engineer with extensive experience in project management and geotechnical engineering. Currently serving as a Project Manager and Senior Staff Engineer at Terracon since October 2020, Jim oversees 20-30 projects simultaneously, managing teams and preparing proposals for significant construction projects. Prior roles include Project Geotechnical Engineer at Carlson Testing, Inc., where Jim reviewed geotechnical investigations and provided consultations, and Associate Civil Engineer for the County of Humboldt, managing staff and evaluating project compliance with county codes. Previous experience includes roles as Project Engineer at Earth Systems, Design Engineer at Sandis, and various engineering positions at TRC Companies, Inc., McGuire and Hester, and other firms. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, obtained in 2007.
