Michelle Nelson

Michelle Nelson has a diverse work experience in various legal and program coordination roles. Michelle is currently working as a Legal Counsel, Securities and Financing at TerrAscend. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate at Ropes & Gray LLP, where they represented corporate clients in M&A transactions and provided legal advice on technology and IP assets. Before that, they were a Summer Associate and Legal Compliance Associate at KushCo Holdings, Inc., where they assisted in developing compliance policies and procedures and advised on regulatory requirements. Michelle also gained legal experience as an Advanced Certified Law Student at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, representing clients in transactional matters and conducting research on entity formations and tax liability. Michelle has also worked as an Associate Governmental Program Analyst at the California Department of Public Health, where they designed trainings for cannabis licensees and researched state regulations. Additionally, they have experience in program coordination, having worked as a Program Coordinator at the California AfterSchool Network and as a Policy Intern at the Partnership for Children and Youth. Michelle has also held other roles, including Office/Data Entry Assistant at UC Berkeley and House Manager at Cal Performances.

Michelle Nelson attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2011 to 2015, where they pursued a degree in Political Science and Media Studies. Following their undergraduate studies, Michelle attended the University of California, Irvine School of Law from 2018 to 2021, where they earned a Doctor of Law (JD) degree.
