Donivan Howard MFA has had a varied and successful career in the art and design industry. Donivan began their career in 1998 as an Illustrator Layout Artist at The Walt Disney Company, where they designed characters and environments for animated films and created camera moves and story sequences. Donivan'scredits include Fantasia 2000, Emperor’s New Groove, and Treasure Planet. In 2007, they became the Art Director at Owlpals. In 2013, they started Navinod Art LLC Donivan Studio Fine Art, where they led and designed illustrations and illustrative fine art for bodies of work to showcase in galleries and museums. Donivan also created narrative art and books centered on cultural iconography, and developed prints and books for conceptual, entertainment and art education. In 2016, they became the Art Director at Terrific Studios, LLC, where they led and directed artist and overall look from concept to completion of game art and studio entertainment art. Donivan also did 2D-3D character and storyboard integration, art assessment and management. Also in 2016, Donivan became a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where they developed a new course curriculum integrated into Illustration, wrote a BFA program for the development of Entertainment Art and Design, and created and hosted the interdisciplinary lecture series called Ricochet, bringing industry professionals to showcase their process into the classroom and the stage.
Donivan Howard received their Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from California State University, Fullerton in 2005. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from ArtCenter College of Design in 1997.
