Chris Mathis has over 25 years of experience in business and technology development. Chris's career began in 1995 when they co-founded Mathis Instruments Ltd., a venture based from several patents of Dr. Nancy Mathis that looked at developing laboratory and in-line process instrumented sensors for various material manufacturing processes. In 2006, they founded Mathis Consultants, providing insight to entrepreneurs into technology start-up issues. In 2007, they were Knowledge Transfer Manager at the University of New Brunswick, receiving, assessing and seeking commercial development pathways for technologies assigned to the university and developed by the students, staff and professors. From 2011 to 2018, they were President and CEO of Springboard Atlantic Inc., coordinating and supporting the network of 19 Atlantic region institutions doing research (colleges and universities). In 2018, they were a Consultant for Strategic Development at Mathis Solutions Ltd., a Board Member and Chair at Stash Energy, Director of IP and Innovation Strategy at Eigen Innovations Inc., and Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder at 3D Planeta Inc. In 2019, they became Chief Technology Officer at SomaDetect, driving product development and commercialization. Currently, they are Business Development Lead at Viable Solutions, a Division of PSG.
Chris Mathis began their educational journey in 1987, when they attended the University of Prince Edward Island to obtain a Diploma in Engineering. Chris then transferred to the University of New Brunswick in 1990, where they completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1993. In 1994, they completed a Technology Management & Entrepreneurship degree from the University of New Brunswick.
