John Ring

John Ring is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in automotive lighting and vehicle systems. Currently serving as Director at Tesla since October 2009, John leads the development of vehicle lighting and switch systems, notably for the Model 3. Prior to Tesla, John held senior engineering roles at Magneti Marelli, Guide Corporation, and Nissan Motor Corporation, focusing on full vehicle lighting development for major automotive brands, including Ford and GM. John's career began at OSRAM SYLVANIA, where significant contributions were made in headlamp design. An entrepreneurial stint as the owner of Circuitcraft Ltd involved providing engineering services globally. John's foundational experience in automotive engineering was developed at Ford Motor Company, complemented by an educational background in Manufacturing and Production Engineering Technology from the University of East London and a Ford Automotive Technical Apprenticeship.
