Sivanesh (Shiv) Palanivel currently serves as the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering at Tesla, overseeing the development of gigacasting technology and advanced metal alloys for automotive production. Since joining Tesla in June 2016, Sivanesh has held several leadership positions, including Sr. Manager roles in Materials Engineering and Gigacastings Manufacturing & Operations, where responsibilities included leading cross-functional teams to innovate new alloys and optimize manufacturing operations. Prior experience includes roles as a Technical Fellow & Graduate Research Assistant at the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Process Institute and Graduate Research Assistant positions at the University of North Texas and Missouri University of Science and Technology. Sivanesh holds a PhD in Materials Science from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgy from the National Institute of Technology Raipur.
