Xinru Yuan is a seasoned supply chain professional with extensive experience in management and procurement. Currently serving as a Senior Supply Chain Manager at Tesla since June 2024, Xinru holds a previous role as Purchasing Manager at Tenneco from February 2017 to June 2024, where responsibilities included managing teams in North America and China, overseeing a $42 million regional spend, and driving performance improvements. Earlier roles at Tenneco involved significant commodity management and strategic negotiation. Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy through increasingly affordable electric vehicles in addition to renewable energy generation and storage. Tesla was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers who wanted to prove that people didn’t need to compromise to drive electric – that electric vehicles can be better, quicker and more fun to drive than gasoline cars. Today, they design, develop, manufacture, sell and lease high-performance fully electric vehicles (EVs) and energy generation and storage systems. In addition to selling EVs and energy systems, Tesla operates customer-facing infrastructure through a global network of vehicle service centers, Mobile Service technicians, body shops, Supercharger stations and Destination Chargers to facilitate widespread adoption of their products. Tesla also installs and maintains energy systems and sells solar electricity; and offers end-to-end clean energy products, including generation, storage, and consumption. Tesla believes the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better. Additionally, they market and sell vehicles to consumers through a network of company owned stores and galleries. Tesla operates as two segments: one focused on automotive which includes its Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles, and the second on energy generation and storage which includes Powerwall and Megapack lithium-ion batteries. Today, Tesla is led by Elon Musk, however, other notable founders of the company are Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel, Marc Tarpenning, and Ian Wright. The company has manufacturing facilities in the US, Germany and China and has operations across Asia Pacific and Europe. Tesla is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
