Joel Agate has extensive work experience in various educational institutions and organizations. Joel started their career in 2007 as a Consultant at Waterfall Canyon Academy. Later on, they pursued their Ph.D. at Clemson University, where they worked as a Ph.D. Student from 2007 to 2010. After completing their studies, they joined Southern Illinois University as an Assistant Professor from 2010 to 2013.

Joel then became involved with US Play Coalition, where they held multiple roles, including Administrator from 2009 to 2010 and Steering Committee Member from 2010 to 2018. In 2013, they started working at the State University of New York College at Brockport, initially as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor of Recreation and Leisure Studies until 2019.

Alongside their role at Brockport, Joel also served as an Adjunct Instructor at the State University of New York College at Brockport in 2020 and as an Online Adjunct Instructor at Brigham Young University - Idaho from 2015 to 2021. Joel then moved on to Brigham Young University, where they worked as an Internship Coordinator from 2021 to 2022.

Currently, Joel Agate is working as an Associate Instructor at the University of Utah starting in 2021. Additionally, they have been an Executive Assistant to the President at TETON Sports since March 2020. Joel's diverse work experience showcases their expertise in academia, administration, and leadership roles.

Joel Agate has an extensive educational background. Joel completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Marriage, Family, & Human Development at Brigham Young University from 1998 to 2002. Joel then pursued a Master of Science degree in Youth and Family Recreation at the same institution and graduated in 2007. Following that, Joel went on to Clemson University to obtain an MBA in Business Administration, which they completed in 2010. At Clemson, they also pursued a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Management, completing their doctoral degree in the same year.
