Nikki Jackson has a diverse work experience. Nikki has served as the Project Director of International Marketing at the Texas Department of Agriculture since 2022. Before that, they founded and acted as the CEO of Green Rush Transport Services in 2021. Nikki also worked as the Executive Director of the National Association of Cannabis Transporters from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, they were the Regional Sales Manager at Detection & Measurement Systems from 2019 to 2021. Nikki also worked as the Territory Sales Manager at Mustang Cat from 2018 to 2019, where they achieved top sales performance. Earlier in their career, they held the role of Regional Sales Manager at Service Radio - Industrial Blind Solutions and served as an Adjunct Professor and Director of Research and International Development at Tarleton State University. Nikki Jackson completed their education with a Diploma from McClintock High School from 1994 to 1998. Later, they pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Tarleton State University, attending from 2004 to 2007. Nikki further continued their education at Tarleton State University and earned a Master of Science degree in Agriculture, completing their studies from 2007 to 2009.

The Texas Legislature established the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) in 1907. The agency's key objectives are to promote production agriculture, consumer protection, economic development and healthy living. The agriculture commissioner oversees the agency and is elected every four years. The current commissioner, Sid Miller, was first elected in 2014 and reelected in 2018 and 2022. TDA is a diversified state agency that provides value-added services through our regulatory and marketing and initiatives. TDA is headquartered in Austin and has five regional service offices, two sub-offices, three laboratories and five livestock export facilities.
