Joyce Slocum has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Joyce currently serves as the President and CEO of Texas Public Radio since 2014, where they are responsible for overseeing the broadcasting of classical music and comprehensive news coverage. Prior to this, they worked at NPR from 2008 to 2013, holding positions such as Chief Administrative Officer, Interim CEO & President, and General Counsel & SVP, Legal Affairs. Before joining NPR, they worked at HIT Entertainment as the General Counsel & EVP, Global Legal & Business Affairs from 1994 to 2008. Early in their career, they served as a Supervising Attorney at 7-Eleven and an Associate at Johnson & Swanson.
Joyce Slocum obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Joyce then went on to pursue their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Saint Louis University School of Law, which they completed between 1978 and 1981.

Texas Public Radio is a member supported non-profit organization that provides public radio programming via seven radio stations. In San Antonio, the stations are KTSX 89.1 FM "News and Views" and KPAC 88.3 "Classical Oasis." KTXI 90.1 broadcasts NPR news and classical music to the Hill Country. KVHL 91.7 broadcasts public radio programming to the Highland Lakes area of Texas. KTPR 89.9 broadcasts to Midland and Big Spring. KTPD 89.3 serves Del Rio, and KCTI 1450 AM serves Gonzales.
