Howard Henderson has a diverse work experience that spans across various roles and organizations. Howard started their career as a Case Manager at CCS/Helicon in 1999 and worked there until 2001. Afterwards, they joined the Walker County Community Supervision & Corrections Department as a Community Supervision Officer from 2002 to 2005. In 2006, Henderson began working at Sam Houston State University as an Assistant Professor and later became an Associate Professor from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director at Texas Southern University. In 2016, they took on the role of Professor & Editor-in-Chief at the Journal of Criminal Justice & Law Review while also serving as a Professor & Director at the Center for Justice Research at Texas Southern University starting in 2017.
Howard Henderson earned their Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in 1999. Howard then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Criminal Justice at Tennessee State University from 1999 to 2001. Howard furthered their education at Sam Houston State University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Criminal Justice from 2001 to 2006.
