Karl Gruber

Karl Gruber, PhD, serves as the Head of Research and Writing at Sole Health Group since February 2024 and has extensive experience as a freelance writer across various prominent publications, including Nature Portfolio and BBC News, focusing on science and health topics. Gruber has contributed to EMBO Reports, Nature Cancer, Nature Plants, BioPharma Dealmakers, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, among others. From March 2021 to February 2022, Gruber worked as a Research Associate at The University of Western Australia, contributing to cancer outcome improvement projects and supervising medical students. Previous journalism experience includes writing for Medical Forum Magazine. Gruber holds a PhD in Zoology/Animal Biology from The University of Western Australia and advanced degrees in Ecology and Zoology from the University of Minnesota and the University of Panama.
