Rebecca Fitzgerald

Rebecca Fitzgerald serves as the Director of the Early Cancer Institute at the University of Cambridge, where Rebecca has worked since April 2001. Fitzgerald leads the Early Detection Programme, a multi-disciplinary research initiative that integrates various fields at the Cambridge Cancer Centre. In addition, Fitzgerald holds fellowships at Trinity College Cambridge, overseeing medical sciences studies and admissions, and serves as an Hon. Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust, focusing on oesophago-gastric cancers and complex gastrointestinal conditions. Previous roles include Clinician Scientist at the MRC Cancer Cell Unit and Clinical Research Fellow at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Fitzgerald completed medical education at the University of Cambridge and pursued further research at Stanford University.
