Prof. Ing. Jiří Čtyroký, DrSc.He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in 1968 and in 1972 obtained the same degree of CSc. Since 1974 he has been working at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In 1985-86 and 1991 he worked at the University of Dortmund in what was then Germany with the support of the Humboldt Foundation. Rank DrSc. obtained in the then Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1990. He deals with physical principles, analysis and numerical modeling of waveguide photonic structures. Within the framework of joint projects, it cooperates with the FNSPE CTU and the Brno University of Technology, and current foreign partners include the National Research Council in Canada and the University of Malaga in Spain. He regularly lectures at the FNSPE CTU in bachelor's, master's and doctoral study programs. In 2005, he was awarded the title of Professor of Applied Physics at the proposal of the CTU Scientific Council. According to the WoS database, he has published more than 150 papers, for which he obtained more than 2000 citations (without self-citations), h = 26. He has served on the organizational and program committees of a number of international conferences and workshops. He is a member of international scientific and professional societies (IEEE Life Senior Member, OSA Senior Member, FInstP, CPhys).
He has been a member of the Scientific Council of the ASCR for many years, and has also held the position of Chairman for less than two terms. During his membership in the CoR of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, he participated in the drafting and preparation of rules for awarding the Academic Prize, repeatedly chaired the Coordination Commission for the highest qualification level, was a member of the FZÚ and GLÚ AS CR Supervisory Boards. He was also a member of the Scientific Board of the MFF UK for two terms. He is a member of the Doctoral Studies Council and a member of the commissions for state final examinations and for the defense of doctoral theses at the MFF UK, FNSPE and FEE CTU.
