Prof. PhDr. Petr Vorel, CSc. (* 1963) is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (1986), in 1986-2000 he worked as a historian and administrator of the numismatic collection at the East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice, in 2000-2006 as head of the historical department at the Faculty of Philosophy Vice-Dean for Science and Research and 2007-2015 as Dean of this Faculty. In 2015-2020, he worked in the management of the University of Pardubice as Vice-Rector for Development and for Science and Creative Activities. He successfully completed a habilitation procedure in the field of historical science at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (1999), and a professorship procedure at Palacký University in Olomouc (2004). He has long been a member of important professional committees: Association of Historians of the Czech Republic (member of the committee since 1992 and chairman in 2005-2011), Czech National Committee of Historians (member since 2002, chairman since 2011), Collegium Carolinum Munich (since 2011), Comenius Academic Club New York (since 2012), Learned Society of the Czech Republic (since 2011). For many years he served on the evaluation commissions of the GA CR (2002-2014), as the chairman of the evaluation commission for III. scientific field within the cyclical evaluation of the institutes of the ASCR (2010-2011); Since 2014, he has been the head of the RVVI field panel for the evaluation of the results of science and research in the humanities (according to M13 + and M17 +). His scientific research focuses on Czech and European history of the late Middle Ages and early modern times, economic history and the history of money circulation.
