The ALS Association
Connie’s involvement with the ALS association began as a promise she made to her father, Bob Houston, shortly after he was diagnosed with the disease in 2001. Her promise was to make it a personal goal to help the broader effort to find a cure for ALS.
Her journey toward this goal began in 2002, joining the Kentucky chapter as a volunteer. A year later she accepted an invitation to become a director on the chapter’s board; a position she would hold for twelve years. During this span, she served two terms as president. She also participated on the Board of Representatives and held the position of secretary. Based on her private sector business experience, she was a key participant on the Finance committee.
In early 2016 Connie joined The ALS Association’s Board of Trustees. She has actively participated on the Finance, and Strategic Planning Committees, and has served as Chair of the Governance Committee and Chair of the Chapter Relations Committee.
