Kevin Holland

Director at The American Institute of Architects

After 25+ years of practice, Kevin Holland, FAIA, remains a lifelong student of architecture practice and design, the influence of the performing and fine arts in architecture, and the creative detailing of buildings. Kevin instills these learning objectives as guiding principles into his practice, the Los Angeles-based K. Michael Architects, where he serves as managing principal, in addition to his work as a design manager for the Los Angeles Unified School District—the second largest school district in the United States.

As an advocate of diversity and social justice, Kevin is committed to serving the profession, its practicing members, and its future members. He served as the 31st national president of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA); was the secretary of the AIA Los Angeles chapter; and presently serves on the NOMA Foundation’s Board of Trustees and the Dean’s Advisory Boards for the Schools of Architecture at both Tuskegee University and the University of Virginia. Kevin obtained his Bachelor of Science Architecture from the University of Virginia and his Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan.
