Interin Sr.. Director / Associate Director, Core IT Systems Infrastructure Operations at The American University in Cairo

Mohamed Kamal has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mohamed is currently working as the Associate Director of Core IT Systems Infrastructure Operations at The American University in Cairo since February 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Assistant Director in the same department from December 2018 to February 2020.

Before joining The American University in Cairo, Mohamed worked at the University of Canada as an Infrastructure Manager from June 2018 to November 2018.

Their journey in the field of IT began at The American University in Cairo in July 2003, where they served as a Technical Support Engineer & Lab Supervisor until September 2008. Later, they were promoted to the position of Senior Systems Administrator and held this role from October 2008 to May 2018.

Mohamed also has experience working with the International Development Foundation-Kuwait and Save the Children (USA) as an IDF Representative from 2002 to 2003. Prior to that, they worked at Power Technology Co. as a Technical Support Engineer from 2000 to 2002 and at General Petroleum Company Information & Computer as a System Administrator (training) from 1999 to 2000.

Mohamed Kamal's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from Ain Shams University, which was obtained from 1996 to 1999. Prior to that, they completed their Thanawya (high school education) at King Fahd's High School from 1994 to 1996. In terms of additional certifications, Mohamed has obtained various certifications from institutions such as Harvard Business School, Microsoft, OPENGROUPE, and APMG-International. Some of these certifications include Management Essentials, Togaf 9.1 Enterprise Architecture Framework, SQL Server 2012: Always On High Availability and Disaster Recovery Solutions, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library. Mohamed also holds certifications from Microsoft, such as Microsoft Solutions Associate, Project Management Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Microsoft Azure: Infrastructure as a Service, and Microsoft Certified Professional.
