Jennifer Adamy

Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary at The Ames Companies, Inc.

Jennifer Adamy has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Jennifer began their career as the Associate Director of Development at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals from 1989 to 1991. Jennifer then founded their own company called Integrated Legal Resources, Inc., offering legal writing and research services to attorneys on an outsourced basis. From 1994 to 1997, they worked at Lawfinders Associates, Inc., where they served as Executive Vice President and later as a Staff Attorney, providing legal research and writing services to U.S. attorneys.

In 1997, Jennifer joined Bivona & Cohen, P.C. as an Associate in the Insurance Coverage Practice Group. Jennifer then worked as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at New York Law School from 1998 to 2000. During this time, they also co-founded the firm's "Women at the Helm" initiative.

In 2000, they moved to Shipman & Goodwin LLP as an Associate, specializing in complex business litigation, commercial law, and bankruptcy. Jennifer played leadership roles in the firm's Associates' Committee and Diversity Committee.

Jennifer's next career move was to Carrier Corporation in 2006, where they served as a Senior Attorney for various business units and global functions within the company. Jennifer provided legal counsel to different departments, including Automated Logic Corporation, Carrier's North American commercial HVAC sales, service, and national accounts operations, and the global supply chain organization. Their responsibilities also included supporting Automated Logic's strategic growth initiatives.

In 2011, Jennifer joined UTC Power as Senior Legal Counsel, where they managed the legal department and intellectual property group for the fuel cell division of United Technologies Corporation. Jennifer successfully transitioned into this role upon the suggestion of UTC's Sr. VP & General Counsel.

Jennifer's next role was Vice President & General Counsel at ClearEdge Power, which they started in February 2013. Jennifer was responsible for establishing the legal, compliance, and intellectual property functions for the organization. Jennifer also led a team of legal professionals and paraprofessionals and was involved in the disentanglement of the UTC Power business and intellectual property portfolio from its former parent company.

Currently, Jennifer serves as the Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary at The AMES Companies, Inc., a position they have held since September 2014.

Jennifer Adamy received their Juris Doctor (JD) from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University between 1991 and 1994. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Binghamton University from 1983 to 1987, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English.
