Laurie Hill Gutierrez

Laurie earned a BBA in accounting from Texas A&M University in 1988. She is an audit partner with Blazek & Vetterling, an independent public accounting firm specializing in tax-exempt organizations and providing tax and audit services to a variety of nonprofits, governmental units and employee benefit plans. She serves as the firm’s Audit Quality Partner for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Government Audit Quality Center and is the partner in charge of recruiting. She frequently presents on new accounting standards and accounting issues impacting not-for-profit organizations. Laurie began her accounting career with Ernst & Young where she spent eight years serving healthcare and nonprofit clients. In that capacity, she participated in the audits of hospitals, long-term care organizations, independent practice associations and other health care related organizations. She subsequently spent six years in health care management as a chief financial officer of a public healthcare company and a controller of a not-for-profit managed care organization. In addition to the overall direction and operations of the finance departments, she was responsible for financial reporting, regulatory reporting and compliance monitoring. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Houston Chapter of CPAs. Laurie serves on the Board of Directors (currently serving as Secretary) and Finance Committee for The Parish School and is a past president of that board. She is also a past president, former board member and treasurer of The Women’s Home. Laurie and her husband, Alfredo ’88, are Endowed Century Club members and have gifted an Endowed Aggie Ring Scholarship. They have two children: Hudson and Taylor.
