Dave Benson, MS, CTM has extensive experience in the field of security and threat mitigation. Dave began their career at Walt Disney World Security in 1976, where they held various roles including Security Host, Investigator, and Manager until 1984. Dave then joined the U.S. Department of State as a Senior Special Agent, serving in various high-level security positions and managing loss prevention and corporate security programs for Walt Disney World Orlando. In 2008, Dave established their own consultancy, DJ Benson & Associates, LLC, specializing in global security consulting and training services. Dave also served as the Director of Safety & Security at The Crossing Church and later became the Director of Campus Safety. From 2014 to 2020, Dave worked at the Center for Personal Protection & Safety (CPPS), first as the Principal & Chief Operating Officer and later as a Senior Advisor for Global Operations & Threat Mitigation. Dave is currently a Certified Psychological First Aid provider at DJ Benson Associates LLC and is also the President of the Florida Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. Dave Benson, MS, CTM, has a solid educational background in national resource strategy, history, criminology, and government. Dave obtained their Master of Science (MS) degree from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in the year 2004. Before that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Florida State University, specializing in history, criminology, and government from 1975 to 1979.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Dave Benson has also pursued additional certifications to enhance their professional expertise. Dave is a Certified Psychological First Aid Provider, which they obtained from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in December 2020.
