William Johnston is an accomplished violist and music educator with a diverse professional background. Currently serving as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Atlanta Federation of Musicians, Local 148-462 since September 2023, William has been Principal Viola at The Atlanta Opera since 2010 and a freelance orchestral violist, collaborating with esteemed ensembles such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, and Sarasota Orchestra. Additionally, William held the position of Adjunct Lecturer of Viola at the University of Florida during the Fall 2018 semester and was Program Coordinator and Faculty Coach at Franklin Pond Chamber Music from 2013 to 2018. William's educational qualifications include a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Master of Music from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Music from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, all in Viola Performance.
